The Blu-ray drive's controller board is coupled with the PS3 it came in, so you cannot swap Blu-ray drives (along with its controller) into another PS3 without having the identification numbers corrected on the controller of the drive (and/or motherboard of the PS3). You can, however, remove just the drive (without controller) and swap it into another PS3 without problems as long as the drives are similar.

If you realy need change this board, you need to have skill to re-marry this new board to your ps3 console
